Helsinki housing production

Housing production is a municipal organisation in charge of Helsinki’s housing development according to targets set by the city. Housing production develops housing according to customers' wishes, aiming for good quality and economical life cycle costs.
Housing production builds and repairs homes according to the city's land use and housing development plan and customers' wishes, aiming for good quality and economical life cycle costs.
The numerical goals for the housing production are set in the land use and housing programme (‘AM programme’). The current AM programme was approved by the City Council on 12 September 2012.

The goals for the city’s own housing production according to the AM programme are:
|Government-subsidised rental housing||750 units|
|Other rental housing, right-of-occupancy housing, partial ownership housing and HITAS owner-occupied housing||600 units|
|Unregulated housing||150 units|
|Total||1500 units a year|
Housing production's homes are mainly owner-occupied HITAS homes. Unregulated housing is built solely for the purpose of ensuring a balanced mix of different housing types in the areas.
